NYC Possession Charges | Heroin
In New York, possession of heroin is, of course, illegal. We know now that there’s more heroin use in the state of New York and all over the nation than there has been in 30 years. It’s an epidemic and the criminal justice system has handled that in many different ways. They’ve set up drug courts all over the state, including in New York City, and I have handled cases in the drug courts and I’ve also handled possession cases of heroin that have gone through the prosecutors.
There are serious consequences to being charged with possession of heroin. You can lose your license, you can go to jail. If you do have a possession of heroin charge, please set up a consultation with my office.
NYC Possession Charges | Large Quantity Marijuana
At a certain level, marijuana possession is a felony and will be prosecuted in the Supreme Court. Charges like that are vigorously prosecuted in New York. You don’t see a lot of large quantity marijuana cases through the years, but I have seen, and I have handled some of those cases. I would be more than happy to discuss your case with you if you have a charge that is a felony marijuana possession charge.
NYC Possession Charges | Simple Possession of Marijuana
There is a simple possession charge in marijuana that is a violation. At a certain level, it could be a misdemeanor and at a certain level it could be a felony. If it’s simple possession, you might be entitled to an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal which would not result in a criminal conviction, it would be a diversionary period of time in which you simply must stay out of trouble.
If you’re charged with a simple possession of marijuana in the state of New York, give me a call and we’ll discuss all of the nuances of your case and I’ll be more than happy to go to court with you on that charge.
NYC Possession Charges | Handgun
New York has some of the toughest handgun laws in the nation. Technically speaking, if you’re convicted by plea or trial of a possession of a handgun, a jail term is required. However, there are many, many cases that I’ve handled throughout the years that have ended satisfactorily.
It all depends on the facts of your case, the circumstances of your arrest, and your particular background. If you have a case with possession of a handgun, please give me a ring.
