New York DWI Attorney Discusses Potential Fines
As an experienced New York DWI Attorney, I am often asked what the potential fines will be for driving under the influence. In the State of New York, if you’re convicted of a DWI as a misdemeanor, the range of fines is not that great. It’s from $500-$1,000. There’s also a court surcharge of $395 and that’s your obligation to the court. However, what most people don’t realize is that the Department of Motor Vehicles will send you a letter. That letter will be a bill where you will be told you that you have to pay $750 to the Department of Motor Vehicles; $250 a year for three years.
